Amanda Tessmer
PLHMP
My name is Amanda Tessmer, a licensed mental health practitioner at New Path Counseling. I have always felt a strong desire to work with individuals and couples to navigate any challenges they may face. From depression and anxiety, coping with life stressors, or learning emotional regulation techniques, to goal setting, or developing effective communication skills, I am dedicated to creating a safe space where clients are able to flourish. I completed my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Bellevue University, and had the honor to begin working in the mental health field during my graduate education. I also have a strong background in healthcare working closely with both patients and providers.
Becoming a therapist was a very easy decision for me since I have a strong desire to walk with clients on their journey to self-healing and self-love. Everyone is unique and deserves a non-judgmental, confidential space to explore and discover positive changes that improve their lives, so I strive to build a strong collaborative relationship where these changes can happen.
I work with adolescents 12 years and older, teens, adults, and couples who are feeling stuck, are struggling with mental health issues, or have experienced loss or trauma. My approach to therapy is integrative and includes listening with compassion and empathy, creating safe space for expression and exploration of thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and empowering individuals to reach their goals. I use expressive therapy through Sandtray, and I am certified in grief counseling. I am committed to ongoing professional development in trauma, couples counseling, and somatic therapy.
I am excited to be part of your journey towards healing and personal growth. We can work towards building reliable skills for life’s demands and develop strategies for longevity together.
