Psychological Assessment

Dr. Ian Stephens is a licensed clinical psychologist with over ten years of experience providing behavioral health services to families in the Omaha Metro area. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno and his master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Montana, Missoula. Prior to his relocation to Omaha in 2014, Dr. Stephens was an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of Idaho where he ran an undergraduate internship program and taught several introductory and advanced psychology courses. Dr. Stephens moved to Omaha to complete his clinical predoctoral internship at the Boys Town Center for Behavioral Health. He would then go onto complete his postdoctoral fellowship in assessment and evaluation which led to his position as a staff psychologist. Dr. Stephens’ work included extensive collaboration with educational and medical professionals throughout the metro and he has served on several multidisciplinary evaluation teams and an interdisciplinary neurodevelopmental team. 

Dr. Stephens specializes in the comprehensive assessment of children, adolescents, and young adults. He has over a decade of experience conducting psychological assessments with individuals ages 5-80+ with a focus on children and adolescents. His practice is tailored to evaluations of individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, behavioral disorders, and learning disabilities. Dr. Stephens’ goal is to provide compassionate, personalized assessments that aid with diagnostic clarity and provide clients and their families a path toward success.

Evaluation Services Offered

(Questions of Autism Spectrum or Developmental Delays)

Ages 6-18

Offered virtually or in-office

All evaluations include parent and child interview, parent and teacher rating scales, results session, and comprehensive, individualized report. Typical evaluations for autism include administration of the ADOS-2 or the CARS-2; however, for higher functioning individuals, other measures are utilized that allow for better detection of subtle skills deficits. Evaluations for an intellectual disability will include cognitive/IQ testing and measures of adaptive functioning.

Neurodevelopmental

(Questions of Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, and Giftedness)*

Ages 8+

Offered in-office ONLY

Evaluations of Learning for Children/Adolescents/Adults

Testing ranges from assessment of a specific learning domain(s) to comprehensive academic evaluation. All evaluations include a parent and child interview to evaluate for social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that may co-occur with learning difficulties.

*Testing for learning disabilities is not covered by insurance. Assessment servic.es at New Path Counseling are billed at a rate of $250/hour.

Learning Disability/ Psychoeducational

(Questions of ADHD and/or Autism)

Ages 18+

Offered virtually or in-office

All evaluations include initial interview, self-report and observer rating scales, administration of psychological testing, results session, and comprehensive, individualized report. Depending on the type of evaluation, cognitive/IQ testing and ratings of adaptive skills may be warranted.

Adult Neurodevelopmental

Testing will be discussed at the end of the initial interview. This will include the amount of testing recommended and what assessment measures will be used. The amount of testing may be subject to the limitations of your insurance provider. Additional testing beyond what is authorized by your insurance will be billed at a rate of $250 per hour. Dr. Stephens offers other types of assessments not listed above. Please reach out if you are uncertain whether the type evaluation you require can be conducted.
